How we enrich the curriculum

We know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide range of enrichment activities designed to help young people build confidence, explore new interests and discover what makes them feel good—mentally, physically and emotionally.

We provide opportunities for our young people to try new things in a way that suits their learning style. If gentle encouragement is what it takes, then we take small steps. We believe that developing skills and connecting with their community should feel meaningful and fun.

Activities beyond the classroom

Here are just some of the extra activities our young people can get involved in:

Autism-friendly social events and community programmes tailored to young people on the spectrum
Independent Travel Training: Accessing and navigating the local community safely, whether on foot, bus, train or car
Work experience: Our onsite coffee shop and various local providers
Art sessions at Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre
Inclusive media production and develop broadcasting skills with ABLE Radio

We create real-world opportunities that help students gain experience, give back, and feel proud of their contribution.

A student-run coffee shop, open to the public, where students can build customer service and hospitality skills
Supporting in the maintenance of a our local allotment
Regular sessions with community police officers
Student-led charity fundraising events for local causes
