Who we support

Bridge House School is a specialist SEMH provision for young people aged 7 – 16, offering a nurturing, small-scale environment designed to meet the needs of those with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, as well as communication and interaction difficulties and some cognition and learning differences.

We understand that many of our pupils have experienced disrupted or negative prior educational experiences. That’s why our approach is relational, trauma-informed and grounded in unconditional positive regard. We create a calm, predictable environment where young people feel safe, valued, and able to re-engage with learning at their own pace.

What makes Bridge House School unique?

At Bridge House, care and connection are at the heart of everything we do. Every student is welcomed each morning by familiar staff and begins the day with our Nurture Breakfast — a calm, structured start that helps them feel settled and ready to learn. Throughout the day, our skilled staff provide enhanced support in and out of lessons, including during break and lunchtime, with structured activities that promote social skills and emotional literacy.

Our trauma-informed, non-punitive approach supports students to build self-awareness and develop the tools they need to self-regulate, manage relationships, and thrive. We believe in restorative practice, where students are supported to learn from their mistakes in a positive and constructive way. A well-structured, individualised rewards system motivates pupils to engage and take pride in their progress, both personally and academically.
