Welcome to our school farm

A vibrant learning environment

Our 10 acre school farm provides a hands on learning environment that supports pupils from KS1 to KS4. The farm is home to sheep, pigs, goats, poultry, ponies, dogs, and cats, giving every child and young person the chance to experience animal care, outdoor learning, and cross curricular opportunities all year round.

The farm is fully embedded within our outdoor learning curriculum. Every pupil, from Early Years through to Year 11, visits the farm once per term, ensuring that all children and young people can benefit from practical, real world experiences.

A living classroom for all pupils

Farm based learning links directly to subjects such as Science, English, Maths, Geography, PSHE, Design & Technology, and Art. Pupils develop teamwork, responsibility, resilience, and a deeper understanding of the natural world.

As part of our outdoor learning pathway, Year 8 pupils complete the John Muir Award, developing conservation skills, environmental awareness, and stewardship of natural spaces.

Our farm team provides high quality, compassionate care for over a dozen species. Pupils learn to:

  • Feed and monitor animals
  • Maintain enclosures and equipment
  • Understand health and welfare needs
  • Follow safe and ethical animal handling routines
  • Recognise signs of illness, behaviour changes, and environmental needs

This hands-on involvement builds confidence and gives pupils a strong foundation in animal husbandry.

At KS4, students can choose BTEC Level 1/2 Animal Care, using the school farm as a real life learning base. This qualification equips learners with practical skills and essential knowledge including:

  • Animal health and behaviour
  • Animal accommodation and nutrition
  • Practical animal handling
  • Safe working practices in land based industries

The course prepares learners for further study and employment in a wide range of rural and land based careers.

Careers programme

The farm is also a key part of our careers programme. Through termly visits, curriculum links, and the BTEC pathway, pupils explore careers such as:

  • Veterinary and veterinary nursing
  • Agriculture and livestock management
  • Animal care and welfare
  • Equine studies
  • Environmental conservation
  • Dog grooming and kennel work
  • Wildlife and countryside management

These pathways support our pupils in understanding real opportunities in our rural Lincolnshire community.

During Carers Week, the farm becomes a focal point for celebration and inclusion, offering additional opportunities for pupils with caring responsibilities to relax, connect with animals, and take part in wellbeing activities.

The farm is a valued space for therapeutic work, enrichment, and building meaningful relationships—helping pupils thrive both academically and emotionally.

We are proud to enter the annual Lincolnshire Show, showcasing pupils’ skills, livestock handling, and farm based projects, giving them the chance to celebrate their achievements within the wider rural community.

A place to grow

Our School Farm is more than a resource – it is a community. It supports learning, wellbeing, aspiration, and future pathways. Every child and young person has the opportunity to explore, connect, and grow through the unique experiences the farm provides.
