How we enrich the curriculum

At Coxlease School, we know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide range of enrichment activities designed to help young people build confidence, explore new interests and discover what makes them feel good—mentally, physically and emotionally.

We provide opportunities for our young people to try new things in a way that suits their learning style. If gentle encouragement is what it takes then we take small steps. We believe that developing skills and connecting with their community should feel meaningful and fun.

Activities beyond the classroom

Every pupil at Coxlease School has timetabled enrichment learning outside the classroom. One afternoon per week, pupils will choose from a range of activities, all of which are objective-led and have clear outcomes. Our programme includes:

  • Visiting local swimming baths
  • Visiting the gym
  • Sailing at Lymington Marina
  • Visiting the beach (approx. 15 miles away)
  • Going to the cinema and bowling
  • Visiting museums, castles and other historic monuments
  • Gardening in the school’s horticulture area
  • Educational trips to London (e.g. House of Commons to learn about the voting system)

Shining in our community

Connecting with our community is key to helping young people grow in confidence and purpose. That’s why we actively build strong links with local businesses, charities and organisations. We create real-world opportunities that help students gain experience, give back, and feel proud of their contribution.

These community links don’t just build practical skills—they help young people feel involved in the world around them.
