How we enrich the curriculum

At Eastwood Grange School, we know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide range of enrichment activities designed to help young people build confidence, explore new interests and discover what makes them feel good—mentally, physically and emotionally.

We provide opportunities for our young people to try new things in a way that suits their learning style. If gentle encouragement is what it takes then we take small steps. We believe that developing skills and connecting with their community should feel meaningful and fun.

Activities beyond the classroom

Here are just some of the extra activities our young people can get involved in:

  • Dedicated enrichment afternoons to encourage our young people to socialise and interact
  • Interest based clubs such a retro gaming and Dungeons and Dragons
  • Poetry, drama, languages and art
  • Sports and exercise
  • Outdoor activities and nature

Shining in our community

Connecting with our community is key to helping young people grow in confidence and purpose. That’s why we actively build strong links with local businesses, charities and organisations. We create real-world opportunities that help students gain experience, give back, and feel proud of their contribution.

Here’s how we connect:

  • Film show afternoons, celebrating the onsite audio-visual work our children do through drama
  • Outdoor concert every summer to showcase the musical talent of our young people
  • Art exhibitions in the local community centre to display the fantastic work our young people create
  • Active engagement with Derbyshire Constabulary, including school talks and attending events

These community links don’t just build practical skills—they help young people feel involved in the world around them.
