Life at Hurworth House School for Parents & Carers

We know that when a child joins our school, their whole family is part of the journey. That’s why we keep communication open, expectations clear and support consistent so you always feel informed and involved.

Below, you’ll find practical information about day-to-day life at Hurworth House School

Monday to Friday: 8:45am - 2:30pm

Lunch and break times at Hurworth House are supported by a programme of pro-social activities, including chess and table tennis to more active group activities supported by resources approved by the Occupational Therapist.

Every Friday, young people are rewarded with an activity that interests them such as fishing, gardening, football or board games. This is aligned with our enrichment programme.

We encourage young people to use their voice at student councils. We have two groups - one with a focus on school life and another relating to creativity and competitions.

We take your relationship with our school extremely seriously. We want to work in partnership with you. You’ll receive regular updates about your child’s progress and wellbeing and we encourage you to talk to us whenever you need to check in.

Absolutely outstanding school. It’s not just a job to these teachers, they genuinely have the best interest of every single child that attends. The teachers go above and beyond to do their best and very child is treated equally.
