How we support your child's future

At Newbury Manor School we aim to support all our young people to better understand their next steps. We believe that the more a young person knows, the better informed they are to make the right choices. It is equally important for parents and carers to be aware of the range of next steps in order to support their child in making the decisions that are best for them.

Our older pupils engage in activities such as:

  • Internal and external work experience placements
  • College visits
  • 1-1 careers advice sessions with a qualified adviser
  • The option of taking an ASDAN careers and employability qualification
  • Career drop-in sessions
  • Access to local employers in a range of industries
  • Careers fairs
  • Age appropriate careers lessons
  • Support from a dedicated in-house careers lead
  • CV writing
  • Interview practice
  • Support with applications

All of these enable our pupils to develop their independence – careers outcomes aren’t just about jobs, working and further education; for some of our pupils, volunteering or supported living may be future outcomes. It is important for all our young people that their independence skills are developed to ensure that, as adults, they are as independent as possible.
