Young people at Progress School are offered a robust careers education package, drawn from the National Curriculum, Gatsby Benchmarks, the Preparation for Adulthood Curriculum and Steps 4 Life. Each offer is completely bespoke to the needs and interests of the individual pupils.
All young people have the opportunity to learn about the world around them via school visits from professionals, such as nurses, police officers, engineers and firefighters. They also take part in excursions into the community to visit places of work such as fire stations, animal sanctuaries and equestrian centres. Post-16 students take part in work experience at local shops and cafes if appropriate for their needs.
Our college students operate a small shop as a micro-enterprise project. They host their shop termly at the local community centre where they oversee designing and running the enterprise, serving customers and practising their independence and work experience skills.
