At Quay View School, our curriculum is designed to recognise each student’s individual potential and to create meaningful opportunities to achieve. We offer a personalised, flexible, and accessible curriculum that responds to the diverse needs, interests, and aspirations of our students.
Our personalised curriculum
The curriculum is shaped by a holistic understanding of education, with a strong emphasis on developing core academic skills alongside social communication, emotional wellbeing, independence, and preparation for adulthood.
We encourage students to work towards accreditation across the curriculum, helping them to build confidence and a sense of achievement. We recognise that many of our students may have experienced difficulties or setbacks in previous educational settings, and we work to rebuild positive attitudes to learning and self-confidence.
Accreditation is approached flexibly and supportively, so that all students can experience success and take pride in their progress and includes a range of nationally recognised qualifications tailored to meet the individual needs, aspirations and abilities of each student. These may include:
- GCSE in core subjects such as English, maths, and science
- Functional Skills qualifications (Level 1 and 2)
- Entry Level Certificates in core subjects such as English, maths, and science
- ASDAN programmes including Personal and Social Development, Employability, and Life Skills
- Sports leaders award, depending on individual interest and readiness
- Duke of Edinburgh’s award, depending on individual interest and readiness
The focus is always on ensuring the accreditation pathway is meaningful, achievable, and supports each student’s next steps into further education, training, or employment. Students are supported to develop a sense of pride and ownership in their achievements, and success is celebrated in a way that recognises both effort and outcome.
