How we enrich the curriculum

At Radio City School, we know that learning doesn’t just happen in the classroom. That’s why we offer a wide range of enrichment activities designed to help young people build confidence, explore new interests and discover what makes them feel good—mentally, physically and emotionally.

We provide opportunities for our young people to try new things in a way that suits their learning style. If gentle encouragement is what it takes then we take small steps. We believe that developing skills and connecting with their community should feel meaningful and fun.

Activities beyond the classroom

We provide a wide range of opportunities for our pupils to learn outside, offering enriching and rewarding activities to expand pupils confidence and self-esteem while developing skills for life, such as teamwork and communication.

Young people are able to participate in a wide range of community-based activities such as British Horse Management and Royal Yachting Association. Where possible, we link outdoor education to qualifications to support pupils with their future prospects, including:

  • The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award
  • John Muir Awards
  • Saltire Awards
  • Blue Peter Awards
  • Qualifications Scotland National Qualifications and Awards

Shining in our community

Connecting with our community is key to helping young people grow in confidence and purpose. That’s why we actively build strong links with local businesses, charities and organisations. We create real-world opportunities that help students gain experience, give back, and feel proud of their contribution.

We have strong links with local farmers who provide access to a range of animals for our pupils to care for. We also have access to an allotment where pupils enjoy growing their own vegetables.

These community links don’t just build practical skills—they help young people feel involved in the world around them.
