How we support your child's future

We’re determined to help young people prepare for their future, not just with qualifications, but with the confidence, knowledge and real-world experience to take their next steps with purpose.

We start the journey early, with forward planning included from Year 8 onwards. From there, students receive tailored careers guidance, practical experience and one-to-one support to help them build a clear and achievable pathway to post-16 education, training or employment.

Careers education starts early and builds over time.

Every young person at Sheridan School receives:

  • Path planning sessions to explore strengths and aspirations
  • Career lessons for students in Years 10 and 11
  • Independent advice from Beacon East, a specialist careers guidance provider
  • Visits to the Festival of Knowledge for inspiration and information
  • Access to alternative options for insight into other professions and flexible career paths
  • Work experience opportunities to develop real-world skills and confidence
  • Visits to a variety of workplaces to expand awareness of different industries
  • Post-16 transition support, including:
    • Bespoke transition planning
    • Help with applications
    • Visits to colleges and training providers

We follow the Gatsby Benchmarks, preparing young people for adulthood and life beyond school—whether that’s further education, employment, apprenticeships or training.
