Who we support

Sketchley School is an independent day school for young people aged 7-19 with autism and associated conditions.

We provide personalised education in a calm, nurturing environment across 3 sites, helping each pupil grow in confidence, rediscover their love of learning, and realise their full potential.

We put our young people at the heart of everything that we do, and communicate with parents and carers regularly, to help them achieve the best possible outcomes and future success.

At Sketchley our vision and values reflect high expectations and aspirations for our students and staff.

Vision – Sketchley students are remarkable students with unique abilities. Our school mission Nurturing Minds – Shaping Futures, aims for all students to develop their skills, knowledge and cultural capital so that they have the emotional maturity and confidence to become valuable and functional members of their community.

Ethos – The ethos of our school centers on unconditional positive regard, creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every student is esteemed. We ensure all students have access to opportunities through personalized learning that adapts teaching to individual needs. With appropriate support, we empower all to reach their potential, fostering both academic success and personal growth in a nurturing, respectful atmosphere.

Student Voice

At Sketchley School, we believe every student has the right to be heard. Our Student Voice initiatives ensure learners can share their views, influence decisions, and help shape school life.

  • Student Council: Elected representatives meet regularly to discuss school improvements, wellbeing, and events.
  • Worry Monsters: A safe way for students to share concerns anonymously, with staff responding promptly.
  • Student Ambassadors: Students support peers, assist with school tours, and help new learners settle in.
  • Inclusive Participation: We use adapted communication methods and provide alternative feedback options to ensure every voice counts.

By empowering students to contribute, we build confidence, leadership skills, and a culture of respect and inclusion.

What makes Sketchley School unique?

We provide a therapeutic approach to learning, with the aim to equip every young person with the skills and confidence that they need for a happy, independent and fulfilling future. Our pupils learn in an adapted environment where they feel safe, comfortable and understood, and we are so proud of the progress they make here.

As well as supporting young people academically, we also help to prepare them for the future world of work. Pupils have access to dedicated members of staff who are on hand to support with skills such as CV writing, travel training and interview techniques.
