How to enrol at our school

Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision and we’re here to make the process as smooth and supportive as possible. We welcome young people who need a specialist environment to thrive and we work closely with parents, carers and local authorities to ensure each placement is the right fit.

Admissions criteria

We are a specialist school for young people aged 7 to 19. We consider each place carefully and to help us to do that, potential students have to meet the following criteria:

  • Have an autistic spectrum diagnosis
  • Have an Education, Health and Care plan (EHCP)
  • May have additional needs, such as learning differences or communication challenges
  • Are able to be supported safely within our therapeutic, structured environment
  • Are referred via a local authority

Our admissions procedure

Step 1: Initial review

Our senior team reviews the referral documentation to see whether we’re able to meet the young person’s needs. If appropriate, we’ll arrange a visit to gather more information.

Step 2: School visit

If we think we can offer the right support, we invite you and your child to visit us. You get to ask questions, tour the school and get to know us.

Step 3: Placement decision

If the assessment is successful and a placement is appropriate, an offer is made to the local authority and parents/carers.

Step 4: Induction

We plan a tailored induction and carry out initial baseline assessments to support future progress tracking as the student settles in.

Step 5: 12 week assessment

Each young person takes part in a 12-week review to make sure we’re the right fit. We check how they’re doing, adjust their experience if needed and confirm the placement as a positive step forward.
