How to enrol at our college

We know that choosing the right college is a big decision especially when your child experiences the world differently. At our college, we work closely with families and local authorities to make sure our setting is the right fit for each young person. Using tailored care and support, we shape your child’s life helping them grow into the person you know they’ll become.

Admissions criteria

  • Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Aged 16-25
  • Diagnosis of autism

Many of the current students at Arden College are on the autism spectrum, ranging from high-functioning autism to those with complex behaviour needs. Due to the very wide spread of ability of our learners, we work in a highly individualised way.

Our admissions procedure

Step 1: Visit our college

We encourage families and the young person to visit prior to admission to get a feel for Arden College and ensure it will be a good fit for them. If this goes well, we will conduct a needs assessment to review students’ needs and outcomes in line with their EHC plan. Based on the findings of this process, we will then decide if Arden College is right for the individual.

Step 2: Placement decision

Once decided, we would invite young people and their parents/carers to inform the Local Authority that they would like to attend Arden College. This might be through the Annual Review process.

Step 3: Transition period

Once the Local Authority agree the place at Arden College, we invite the young person and family in for a transition meeting. This is where we will begin to develop an individualised learning programme for the young person.
