We know that when a child joins our college, their whole family is part of the journey. That’s why we keep communication open, expectations clear and support consistent so you always feel informed and involved.
Below, you’ll find practical information about day-to-day life at Arden College.
All students attend college on a full-time placement unless it is prearranged. A placement would be 5 days a week.
The day starts at 9am and ends at 3.15pm.
Students get breaks throughout the day and a 1-hour lunch break.
We understand that many of our learners at Arden College have anxiety-based conditions, and therefore make suitable arrangements to minimise the stress and uncertainty of joining us. Depending on the individual’s circumstances, this may include:
- Transition meetings at college
- College taster days/sessions
- A short day programme, gradually building up the time spent at college
- Visits to their current settings to get to know them
- A key team around the young person so that they have familiar staff
We want to work in partnership with you. You’ll receive regular updates about your child’s progress and wellbeing and we encourage you to talk to us whenever you need to check in.

When looking for information about post-16 home to college transport arrangements, is likely to be your LA’s ‘Transport Policy Statement’ on post-16 transport. This policy should also set out travel arrangements for those who are ‘adult learners’. You should find this statement on your LA’s website and in its Local Offer.
We are utterly delighted with Harry for the way he has coped with the change to his new education setting at Arden College. He seems to be flourishing with the support of the excellent staff there. Arden College is clearly not just able to meet Harry’s needs, but to excel.
