What the Schools White Paper means for you and your child

You may have seen updates about the Government’s Every Child Achieving and Thriving white paper. We know that conversations about change can sometimes create worry, so we want to reassure you: nothing changes for your child now.

Why the Government reforms are being proposed

The government have set out a vision for the education and experiences that we provide to the children of today that will shape the society of tomorrow. Our children are the citizens of our common future – the start of every success – and in them we see the curiosity, resilience and enterprise to succeed. As new waves of technological change transform our society and economy as never before, it is more important than ever that our nurseries, schools, trusts and colleges prepare the next generation to shape our world together.

Decade‑long reform programme

The proposed reforms outlined in the White Paper will take place gradually over the next decade. Before anything happens, there will be a full consultation period. We will take part in this and make sure the voices of the families we support are heard.

EHCP support stays the same

The White Paper proposes that there is no change to support received through EHCPs before, at least, September 2030. Young people will continue to receive the support set out in their plans, and our schools and homes will continue to provide the same high‑quality, specialist support as always.

What this means for families right now

Right now, everything continues exactly as normal.
Your child’s routine, support and provision stay the same.

We understand that stability matters. We create safe, supportive spaces where young people feel seen, understood and encouraged. That does not change.

Our commitment to you

Our mission remains the same: we see the potential in every young person, and we support them to achieve it.
We will continue to nurture confidence, build resilience and help each young person take steps towards their future with steady, personalised support.

As the Government develops its plans, we will update all families promptly as soon as further details are published. And as always, your child’s wellbeing and safety remain our first priority.
