Admissions - Queenswood School

We know that choosing the right school is a big decision especially when your child experiences the world differently. At our school, we work closely with families and local authorities to make sure our setting is the right fit for each young person. Using tailored care and support, we shape your child’s life helping them grow into the person you know they’ll become.

Admissions criteria

Have an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated needs
Have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Aged 11-19

Our admissions procedure

Step 1: Expression of interest

The school will receive and review a formal consultation. If we feel that we may be able to offer an appropriate education to this child, and match them with our current cohort of pupils, we will send out an expression of interest.

Step 2: School visit

Parents/carers and the young person will be invited to Queenswood School to meet our staff members and take a tour of the school. This is an opportunity to ask any questions about our school and for us to find out more about your child and their needs.

Step 3: Placement offer

If we feel that Queenswood can support your child and their specific needs, we will make a placement offer to the referrer. This will include how we envisage meeting the young person’s needs, any additional support we feel will be required for the placement and what the anticipated outcomes for the child might be.

Step 4: Transition plan

Once a placement is accepted, we will make arrangements to transition them into our school. As the young person begins to settle into Queenswood School, we will undertake baseline assessments that will enable us to track and measure their development and progress going forward.

Step 5: Final assessment

The final step is an assessment period of 12-weeks. At the end of this period the school will consult with stakeholders to make sure that the placement is positive and any adjustments can be made quickly and effectively.
