How we support your child's future

There has never been a time when careers guidance has been as important for young people as it is today. The landscape of education, training and employment opportunities that students encounter is growing more vast and complex by the day.

                                                       .

Our aim at Queenswood School is to prepare our students for their future life in today’s world. In careers education, this translates as every student making the right choices for their progression. We support students in making well-informed decisions by providing access to differentiated, impartial and independent information and guidance about the range of options (including academic, vocational, apprenticeships and supported programmes) that are most likely to help them to achieve their ambitions. By assisting students with decisions at crucial stages, helping them to explore all of their options and introducing them to the world of work and post 16 education, we aim to prepare them for their future whichever pathway they choose.

                                                       .

Our Careers Education is delivered primarily through our Preparation For Adulthood (PFA) team which is made up of  Social Skills, Independent Living Skills, PSHE and PE. Careers Education is however a key part of the curriculum in all subject areas, and is also delivered within subject specific lessons and in weekly  Tutor Time Careers sessions.

                                                       .

To ensure our provision remains of the highest standard, we continually audit and adapt our Careers Education offer using The Careers & Enterprise Company tools. We utilize the Future Skills Questionnaire to actively collect student voice, and we perform termly Compass audits to rigorously analyse our data against the Gatsby Benchmarks.

                                                        .
