As part of our learning around democracy, the Senedd, and how political systems work in practice, learners have been exploring how individuals can have a voice and influence change in society. This learning was brought to life when we invited our local MP, Andrew Ranger, into the college for a visit, followed by a return session where he hosted a Question Time event with members of our Student Council.
The discussion gave learners a valuable opportunity to share their views, ask questions, and engage directly with democratic processes. Inspired by this experience, one of our learners went on to write a powerful manifesto focusing on environmental issues, autism awareness, and tackling the bullying they may face in society.
Her letter was subsequently delivered to Downing Street, and we are incredibly proud to share that she has now received a personal reply from the Prime Minister. This is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the confidence, advocacy, and ambition of our learners. Well done — we are all extremely proud of you.
