Here at Fromefield Manor School, therapy is interwoven into our curriculum offer as part of a holistic approach. As part of this, our Occupational Therapist (OT) and Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) provide a weekly ‘tip of the week’ to all staff, ensuring they are fully equipped with the skills they need to support the pupils they work with.
Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) Tip of the Week
At our school, communication is at the heart of everything we do, and Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) plays a vital role in making this possible.
Our SALT Tip of the Week is a simple, practical way to share strategies that support all students to communicate, connect, and thrive. Each tip is designed to be easy to apply in everyday interactions, helping staff and families to build communication-rich environments across the school and at home.
For many of our students, communication looks different. It may involve gestures, symbols, AAC, sounds, or behaviour. Through these weekly tips, we highlight inclusive approaches that ensure every voice is recognised, valued, supported and heard.
By embedding SALT strategies into daily practice, we are not just supporting communication, we are strengthening relationships, increasing independence, and empowering our students to express themselves with confidence.
Because when communication is truly supported, everything else can grow.
Occupational Therapy Tip of the Week
Our OT Tip of the Week is shared with all staff on a Monday morning. It is designed to build staff knowledge and confidence in using occupational therapy strategies in the classroom.
Sharing clear, accessible ideas each week supports a universal approach—helping the wider team to embed strategies that enhance students’ regulation, attention, engagement, and independence.
