How to enrol at our college

We know that choosing the right college is a big decision especially when your child experiences the world differently. At our college, we work closely with families and local authorities to make sure our setting is the right fit for each young person. Using tailored care and support, we shape your child’s life helping them grow into the person you know they’ll become.

Admissions criteria

Strathmore College provides individualised learning programmes for young people aged 16-25 with a range of learning difficulties and/or disabilities.

Most of our students are on the autism spectrum, ranging from those with high functioning autism to those with complex behaviour needs. A significant number also have associated mental health/wellbeing needs and a co-morbid diagnosis.

We also welcome students with a range of other conditions including Down Syndrome, emotional and social behaviour issues, speech and language difficulties and other health related, mental or physical difficulties.

Our admissions process

Our admissions process is designed to give each young person maximum opportunity to make informed choices, and that’s why we ensure they’re included as early on in the process as possible.

We encourage young people to visit prior to admission but recognise that for some this may be overwhelming so we can also visit them in their current education setting.

If a young person joining our college has previous negative experiences with education, we will design their learning package in such a way that motivates and engages them with learning. In all cases, the admissions process is needs-led and shaped with each individual young person in mind.
