Life at Strathmore College for Parents & Carers

We know that when a child joins our college, their whole family is part of the journey. That’s why we keep communication open, expectations clear and support consistent so you always feel informed and involved.

Below, you’ll find practical information about day-to-day life at Strathmore College.

Unlike many traditional education establishments which see learners swap classes/activities on an hourly basis, our young people follow timetables with day-long sessions in some places. This helps to prepare them for the world of work, where they will spend the whole day focussing on one area.

We also recognise that ”transition” from one aspect of the day to another can be a significant challenge. To support learners with this, we build in periods of regulation to allow them to decompress.

When a young person joins our college, we will provide them with a personalised timetable that meets their needs and interests. We will also provide you with information regarding the support we will offer your child throughout their programme.

We want to work in partnership with you. You’ll receive regular updates about your child’s progress and wellbeing and we encourage you to talk to us whenever you need to check in.

Learners feel safe at college and appreciate the support they receive. They access therapeutic services appropriate to their needs, to help them understand and regulate their own behaviours.
