How to enrol at our school

We know that choosing the right school is a big decision especially when your child experiences the world differently. At our school, we work closely with families and local authorities to make sure our setting is the right fit for each young person. Using tailored care and support, we shape your child’s life helping them grow into the person you know they’ll become.

Admissions criteria

  • Aged 7-18
  • Identified special educational needs (SEN), including an autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), communication and interaction needs, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), or attachment related conditions
  • Young people will have an education, health and care plan (EHCP)

Our admissions procedure

Step 1: Referral received

On receiving an application from a referring local authority, the school will begin a process of internal assessment. Each new referral is discussed by our Senior Leadership Team who establish whether the young person’s needs can be met at the school and which resources would make the placement sustainable. If we are unable to offer a placement, we will communicate this quickly and decisively.

Step 2: Assessment visit

If we feel we may be able to offer a placement, we will arrange an assessment visit to gain further information. This will usually take place the young person's existing educational setting or home. A visit to Tor View is also encouraged.

Step 3: Placement offer

Following the assessment, if we believe we can meet the young person's needs and provide the right environment for them to reach their potential, we will make a placement offer.

Step 4: Transition period

Once a placement is accepted by the young person, their family and any involved professionals, we will make arrangements to transition them into school. As the young person begins to settle into Tor View, we will undertake baseline assessments that will enable us to track and measure their development and progress going forward.
